After twenty years together, they chose to celebrate their marriage in a way that reflected who they are. Thoughtful, relaxed, deeply personal, and centred on the people who matter most. No fuss, no pressure, just love, laughter, and a dog who took his role very seriously.
The Setting
Their wedding took place at The Kings Court Hotel, a beautiful and understated venue that lends itself perfectly to elopements and intimate weddings. With just six guests in attendance, plus Davis the Dog, the day felt calm, warm, and full of meaning. Every conversation mattered. Every moment had space to breathe. Decorated by the maid of honour, Emily. For the added personal touch, that really added to the magic of the day.
A Morning of Quiet Excitement
I began coverage with Sally’s bridal preparations. These early moments were gentle and unhurried. Sally was surrounded by family, including her daughter Emily, who also took on the role of Maid of Honour. There was laughter, quiet reflection, and that unmistakable buzz of anticipation that comes just before something important.
These are some of my favourite moments to photograph. The small glances, the deep breaths, the smiles that appear when no one is trying too hard. It set the tone for the rest of the day beautifully.
The Ceremony
The ceremony itself was heartfelt and wonderfully personal. Sally and Wayne were joined by their closest people. Emily, Louise, Peter, Tom, and of course Davis, who ensured his presence was known and appreciated.
With such a small group, the ceremony felt incredibly connected. There was no distance between anyone, physically or emotionally. Every word carried weight, and every reaction told its own story. It was intimate in the truest sense of the word.
Family, Laughter, and Real Moments
Following the ceremony, we spent time capturing group photographs and relaxed candid moments. This is where elopements truly shine. Without a tight schedule or a long guest list, everyone could simply enjoy being together.
Emily, both daughter and Maid of Honour, was a constant source of warmth and support. Peter shared quiet moments with his mum. Louise and Tom added laughter and lightness. And Davis, ever loyal, appeared in more than a few frames, exactly where he belonged.

Three Hours, Perfectly Enough
I covered three hours of Sally and Wayne’s day, from bridal prep through to the ceremony and portraits. It was the perfect amount of time for a wedding like this. Nothing felt rushed, nothing felt missing. Every important chapter was told, beautifully and honestly.
